At our November General Meeting, the caucus voted to send a letter to the Senate President, Speaker of the House, and Governor's office urging them to spend the 1.1 billion in federal funds Rhode Island has received as part of the American Rescue Plan.
Based on membership discussions from our October meeting (which you can watch here), we urged these funds to be spent on three main things: housing, behavioral healthcare, and affordable childcare. We also encouraged the leadership to use Rhode Island contractors rather than out-of-state private companies to complete any work. We also encouraged the leadership to spend now, before more Rhode Islanders suffer.
You can read the letter here.
